About the Project

Preserve the VOICE of Our Ancestors
DLST (Dialect, Language, Script & Tone) is a community-driven cultural initiative of the IndigenousX Foundation dedicated to the preservation, documentation, revitalization, and intergenerational transmission of Indigenous and traditional dialects, languages, scripts, tones, oral traditions, and cultural expressions.
Language is not merely a tool of communication; it is a living repository of a community's identity, history, culture, knowledge, philosophy, folklore, songs, customs, and collective memory. Every dialect, every word, and every tone carries generations of experience, wisdom, and cultural heritage.
Today, due to globalization, urbanization, migration, the marginalization of local languages in formal education, and the growing dominance of major languages, many Indigenous languages, dialects, and traditional speech patterns are facing the risk of extinction. Along with the passing of elder speakers, valuable vocabularies, folk songs, stories, proverbs, oral histories, and traditional knowledge systems are gradually disappearing.
The DLST Project aims to safeguard this invaluable linguistic and cultural heritage through community-based initiatives and digital preservation strategies, ensuring that present and future generations remain connected to their language, identity, and ancestral roots.
The project will work at the village level through language surveys, audio-visual documentation, dictionary development, collection of oral literature, preservation of traditional scripts, language education programs, and the creation of digital archives. Through these efforts, DLST seeks to protect, promote, and revitalize Indigenous languages and cultural knowledge for future generations.
